The 3-row midsize luxury SUV, the Cadillac XT6, was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in 2019. It went on sale in Japan in 2020. It is the largest vehicle in the XT series of Cadillac. It has a standard seven-seating capacity and an optional six-seating capacity. It has similar mechanical components to the GMC Acadia. The latest Cadillac has a few minor changes, among which are the Sports trim Brembo brakes, and the Platinum package offers a Modena leather steering wheel that gives it a premium feels. The  Cadillac XT6 provides power-folding side mirrors and twenty-one inches sporty wheels. It is available in three trim levels, and the Sports model is the most expensive. Still, it does not offer noticeable upgrades, so the customers mostly prefer the Premium luxury trim because it adds a list of the latest features at a comparatively lower price than the Sports model. The latest Cadillac XT6 is also available in the market and is not very different from the previous Cadillac XT6. One of the few changes brought in the latest 2023 Cadillac XT6 is the Super Cruise driving system which is an autonomous system that manages acceleration, brakes, and steering control on the highways. The Cadillac XT6 is ranked number 12 among luxury midsize SUVs. We will discuss the details and specs of the Cadillac XT6 today. The Cadillac XT6 has a spacious cabin that is somehow soundproofed by wind and engine noise. It competes with Lincoln Aviator, but Cadillac has better rear visibility and an easy-to-use touchscreen interface compared to Acura MDX. The Audi Q7 is one the highest quality SUVs that offers smooth ride quality and sporty handling dynamics, but Cadillac XT6 is found better in 3rd-row seating, whereas the Audi Q7 has a cramped 3rd row. The  Cadillac XT6 is considered the best in 3rd-row space, offering more room for adults sitting in the 3rd row.

Trims, Variants & Packages:

The Cadillac XT6 is available in three trim levels:

Luxury trim: it offers an eighteen-inch wheel, roof rails, three-zone automatic climate control, eight speakers audio system, six USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated front seats with power adjustment, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Premium Luxury: it offers twenty-inches wheels, ventilated front seats, fourteen speaker audio system, a wireless charging pad, rain-sensing wipers, 1st, and 2nd-row leather seats, a heated steering wheel, a navigation system, heated rear outboard seats, a hands-free liftgate.

Packages:

  • Sport trim: it offers carbon fiber interior trims, adaptive sport suspension, Brembo brakes with red callipers, and a unique design. It offers various packages:
  • Platinum package: it offers adaptive suspension, leather upholstery, and a Simulated suede headliner.
  • Driver Assist package: it offers adaptive cruise control, a forward collision mitigation system, automatic seat belt tightening, and rear automatic brakes.
  • Technology Package: it offers a digital gauge cluster, rear pedestrian alert, head-up display, and a surround-view camera.
  • Comfort package: It offers heated rear seats, an air ionizer, and ventilated front seats.

Engine, Transmission & Power:

The Cadillac XT6 has two engine choices: a 3.6-litre V6 engine and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. All trims of the Cadillac XT6 have a 3.6-liter V6 machine except the Luxury trim, which is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Both engines offer a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter engine generates 237 hp power and 258 lb-ft torque, while the V6 engine generates 310 hp power and 271 lb-ft torque. The luxury and Premium Luxury trim has a standard front-wheel-drive configuration, and the Sport model offers an all-wheel-drive configuration.

Performance & Drive:

In the Cadillac XT6, both engines deliver impressive performance, and the 3.0-liter engine is the quicker, taking 7.3 seconds to propel from 0 to 60 miles per hour. The engine generates enough power to run all four wheels, but the all-wheel-drive doesn’t switch automatically, and you have to manually change the driving mode from front-wheel to all-wheel. The steering control is good, giving confidence in controlling the car over challenging turns and twists. The Cadillac XT6’s fuel economy is good, and the 2.0-liter turbo engine gets 21 miles per gallon mileage in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highways, while the V6 engine gives 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the roads. The braking system is efficient, and the Brembo brakes provide precise braking power and visual flair in Sport trim. The emergency braking system works with a forward collision that detects a vehicle from the front and reduces the severity of the crash. The Smart tow trailering system in Cadillac XT6 allows towing 4000 pounds of load. The sport control All-wheel-drive in Cadillac XT6 distributes torque to all wheels for instant responsiveness and excellent handling regardless of road condition. The rear parking Assist helps to park in reverse gear and detects objects or vehicles behind you. The Cadillac XT6 comes with an HD rearview camera, showing the image of the area behind the car in clear resolution and helping in parking at low speeds. It offers a front pedestrian braking alarm that activates when a pedestrian is detected ahead of you, automatically applies emergency brakes, and works at speeds below 50 miles per hour. The adaptive cruise control maintains a safe distance from nearby vehicles and slows down automatically when the other car comes closer. The suspension system is tuned well and delivers smooth ride quality by absorbing most bumps and jerks when passing over rough roads and streets.

Exterior Design & Features:

The Cadillac XT6 is an eye-catching and large SUV that never goes unnoticed. The aggressive grill on the front looks very bold, and the sleek headlights on its sides attract every eye. The aerodynamic body has a low coefficient drag, making handling easier at higher speeds. The shiny Cadillac logo looks striking in the center of the grille, and the side profile is attractive too. The sculpted lines and the sloped roof makes it look premium, and all trims have roof rails as standard. The wheels in higher-end trims are 21 inches and increase their sporty stance.

Interior Design & Features:

The Cadillac XT6 interior gives a luxurious feel with nicely stitched materials and high-end accents. The front seat comes with a heating, ventilation, and power adjustment facility, and the steering wheel is also given a heating feature. It offers seven seating configurations and eight seating capacities. The interior is comfortable with the three-zone climate control system, wireless charging, and ambient lights. There is a standard 8-inches touch screen display for infotainment and compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car play interface. It also offers navigation, and rear seat passengers enjoy entertainment with a separate DVD player. The cabin is spacious, and 3rd-row seats fit three adults, but the cargo space is less, which can be increased when both 2nd and 3rd-row seats get folded.

Pros & Cons:

Pros:

The Cadillac XT6 has an attractive exterior design and is equipped with all luxurious features to stand out among other SUVs. It is a larger-sized SUV, and the cabin offers a generous passenger room with spacious 3rd-row seats. Many safety features are given as standard in all the trim levels.

Cons:

The 3rd-row seat is spacious but lacks enough space in the trunk. The towing limit in Cadillac XT6 is less than its competitors, and riding quality may get low when the road is jumpy as it is hard to accelerate the car smoothly.

Safety & Features:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2023 Cadillac XT6 an overall safety rating of five out of five stars. The XT6 received five stars in the frontal and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet crash tested the 2023 XT6.
