Changan Motors has recently got fame in Pakistan after the anticipated launch of Changan Alsvin, and this Chinese automobile company has plans to introduce more cars here. It was informed that the Changan had imported Changan UNI-T and Changan Oshan X7 for trials and testing. These two vehicles belong to the SUV lineup, and now another SUV from Changan has been imported to Pakistan. It is UNI-K this time, and it arrived on 16th July 2021 in Pakistan. It got unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show held in September 2020. It was rumored as the UNI-V before the official announcement of Changan UNI K. It is a mid-size crossover SUV with a front-engine and front-wheel-drive configuration. The Changan UNI K was launched in China by the end of 2020, and it was called the Porsche Cayenne for a poor man who couldn’t afford the Porsche. It is a mixture of Porsche, Mercedes, and Volkswagen but at budget-friendly prices. The arrival of Changan UNI K will be a game-changer for all the SUVs in Pakistan as it features a stunning design and is equipped with intuitive technology. The Changan UNI K is based on Changan CS95 mechanically, but it differs from it only in the wheelbase, and the Changan UNI K has a larger wheelbase than the Changan CS95. The Changan UNI K comes with a 2.0-liter engine and offers an 8-speed automatic transmission. It comes with Gorilla cold-bent curving glass windows that are durable and supports gesture control. The Changan UNI K was imported in July 2021, and it was expected that the car would launch by the end of 2021 in Pakistan, but its launch was delayed for a while, showing the vehicle is still in the testing phase. The Changan UNI K is expected to be launched in the first half of 2023 or 2024 in Pakistan, but official news by Changan Motors can only confirm the exact date.
Trims & Variants:
The Changan UNI K will be available in only one power train and one version. It can offer two configurations that include either the front-wheel-drive or the all-wheel-drive configuration.
Engine, Power & Transmission:
The Changan UNI K gets its power from a 2.0-liters, L4, 1998cc, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, turbocharged engine with direct injection and generates a maximum of 233 hp of power at 5500 RPM and torque of 390 Nm at 1900 RPM to 3300 RPM. It offers an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Performance & Drive:
The Changan UNI K is balanced between dynamism, utility, and efficiency with a power output of 233 hp. The 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo engine is designed after a lot of research, and it gives excellent fuel economy and efficient transmission performance. The 8-speed Aisin transmission offers smooth control with precise gear changes, and the intelligent 4-wheel drive system can deal with unusual road conditions. When driving over snowy pathways or slippery roads, the power is delivered to all four wheels. It will offer a hill-descent system that lets you move freely over hilly roads with maximum traction control. The suspension system is stiff, and it allows you to move over bumps and breakers quickly with the slightest discomfort. At the same time, the steering control is precise and helps the driver turn the car with less effort, giving maximum hold and confidence when turning the car around corners and parking on tight pavements. The braking pedal is smooth and lets you apply brakes confidently without giving any jerk. The handling maneuvers are impressive with no body roll, especially when turning the car. The Changan UNI K will be an efficient car not only for city drives and taking you through the streets of our country but also at high speeds on highways. It will offer an adaptive cruise control feature that activates the car from a stop and accelerates it intelligently, keeping a safe distance from the vehicles ahead and adapting to the road conditions. It will come with a lane departure warning system that identifies the lane and warns you to deviate from the lane. It switches the passing lights automatically when driving at night and avoids speeding by detecting speed limits. It gives you a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour and moves smoothly at high speeds. It comes with a fuel tank capacity of 70 liters.
Exterior Design & Features:
The Changan UNI K is different from Changan CS95 with a larger wheelbase and has a length of 1948 millimeters, a wheelbase of 2890 millimeters, and a width of 1700 millimeters. It inherits a borderless design in the language of UNI. The front has a hexagonal grille which adopts a Vision-V concept, and the headlight design also adopts a similar shape, having slender and sharp-angled clusters. The fog lamps are 3-pointed star shape mounted on both sides of the bumper at the front, and the rear has a light strip running across the width. The rear spoiler and the high-mount stop lamps have a design inspired by interstellar spacecraft. The 21-inches wheels accentuate the essence of the sports, and the door handles at the rear are hidden, Lowering the drag coefficient.
Interior Design & Features:
The interior of Changan UNI K is made of high-quality materials and looks stylish. There are 2-rows of seats that can accommodate 5-adults, and the 2nd-row seats are foldable, allowing space utilization. The seats are covered with leather and provide a comfortable environment—an intelligent electric sunroof with dual modes lets sunshine and fresh air in the cabin. The trunk has a capacity of 3810 liters, so you can carry enough goods. The cabin comes with 10 Hifi speakers that give a new audio experience, and the air purification system in the cabin ensures you get fresh air inside. There is a 12.3-inches touch screen mounted on the dashboard that comes with an in-call intelligent vehicle interconnection system and has Android Auto and Apple Carplay interface. Some of the features you will be getting in Chagan UNI K are an automatic air conditioning system, 360-degree rearview camera, keyless entry, electric trunk, push-start button, USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity.
