The first generation HR-V was marketed from 1999 to 2006 in European, Japanese, and Asian markets. The production of 2nd generation HR-V began in 2013 for the Japanese market and 2015 for North American markets. The 3rd generation Honda HR-V was unveiled in 2021 in Japan. The 3rd generation HR-V was available for Japanese and European markets while the United States did not receive the next generation. The Honda HR-V available in the United States for 2022 is the 2nd generation. Honda’s American press office released news of the upcoming new generation of Honda HR-V that will meet the distinct needs of United States customers. Recently, Honda United States posted a teaser of the forthcoming Honda HR-V, which has a handsome design and looks different from the European version of the Honda HR-V. It is more aggressive than the 2nd generation Honda HR-V, and its grille features an S-Shaped pattern while its headlights are boxier in shape. Honda has sold 68,441 units of HR-V in the United States of America and became the 5th highest-selling vehicle of Honda in North America. The 3rd Generation Honda HR-V is expected to be launched in the fall of 2022 in the United States and North America but till that the 2nd generation Honda HR-V is available in the United States, unchanged from the previous model and rated number 10 among other subcompact SUVs. The 2nd Generation Honda HR-V is a practical choice for large families because it offers plenty of space in the cabin and has a reasonable starting price. The 2nd Generation Honda HR-V delivers an enjoyable driving experience and excellent fuel economy. The Honda HR-V offers both a front-wheel-drive configuration and an all-wheel-drive configuration. The Honda HR-V is available in 4 trim levels: Honda HR-V LX, Sport LX, EX, and EX-L.

The Honda HR-V LX offers cloth upholstery, a USB port, a 5-inch touch screen, and alloy wheels.

The HR-V Sport trim offers a 7-inch touch screen, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, and glossy black mirrors.

The HR-V EX trim offers a 6-speakers audio system, keyless entry, heated front seats, push-start button, and the latest safety features.

The Honda HR-V EX-L trim offers leather upholstery and a rearview mirror with auto-dimming.

Engine & Power:

The 2022 Honda HR-V offers a single-engine choice:

 It has a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine that generates 141 hp of power at 6500 RPM and a torque of 127 lb-ft at 4300 RPM. It offers a Continuously Varying Automatic transmission. It has a direct ignition system with an immobilizer, and the engine has a 16-valve SOHC i-VTEC technology. It has options of two-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive. The braking system consists of power-assisted ventilated discs on the front and solid discs at the rear. The suspension system consists of Macpherson strut suspension on the front axle, and the 2WD trim has torsion beam suspension at the rear axle, while the AWD trim has DeDion suspension at the rear axle.

Performance & Drive:

Honda HR-V has a well-tuned suspension that makes the drive enjoyable. The steering is responsive and handles the car well, giving you a comfortable ride. It squeezes into the parking lots conveniently, and the driver can turn the car around corners confidently with minimum body roll. All models have standard front-wheel drive, while the all-wheel-drive facility is also available to make your off-road adventures thrilling. The all-wheel drive comes with an intelligent control system that sends power to all 4-wheels and makes the vehicle move through uneven terrain quickly and easily. The continuously varying automatic transmission delivers smooth shifts and gives enough ability to drive. The acceleration of HRV is not very competitive as it takes 9.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Honda HRV offers a LaneWatch facility that makes changing your lanes easier by showing the roadway of the passenger side on the display screen. The multi-view rearview camera features three views that are normal, top-down, and wide, helping to park your cars in tight lanes easily. The collision Mitigation Braking system it offers helps in bringing your vehicle to stop automatically by applying brake pressure, and adaptive cruise control slows and stops the car when the detected vehicle slows to stop and maintains a set interval from the detected vehicle. The fuel economies of the Honda HR-V are incredible; the front-wheel-drive trims get 28 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highways, while the all-wheel-drive trims get 27 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the roads.

Exterior Design & Features:

The Honda HR-V style is striking with sports-inspired wheels and an eye-catching front look. The front has a black-colored honeycomb grille in the center that adds aggression to the frontal fascia, and the sleek profile from the side adds sporty character to it. The LED daytime running lights are sleek, and the LED angular taillights make visibility clearer on the roads. The 18-inches alloy wheels increase the sporty character of the car.

Interior Design & Features:

The inside of the Honda HR-V is surprisingly spacious with a Magic Seat 2nd row, and the front seats come with heating technology. The seats get leather covering, and the interior is designed to accommodate five adults. The Magic Seat in the 2nd row comes with a 60/40 split option that increases cargo area and provides 58.8 cubic feet of space to carry goods. The steering wheel is multi-functional and has controls mounted on it. There is a 7-inch touch screen, an Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration, and access to your text messages and calls. You will get 2 USB ports and a 12-volt power outlet in the cockpit to charge your smartphones. The Bluetooth connection lets you pair with the enabled phone and readily takes your calls. You also get an optional moon roof to brighten up the cabin, and your ease is ensured with its push-start button, keyless entry, and automatic climate control. The entry-level trims offer 4-speakers, while higher-end variants offer a 6-speakers sound system.
