Kia Niro is the hybrid subcompact crossover introduced by Kia Motors in 2016. It was launched in the United Kingdom in 2017 and in 2018 in the United States of America. Kia Niro is a hybrid SUV that delivers quality and excellent performance. Kia Niro is expected to come to the Pakistani automobile markets also. The news came true when some Kia cars were spotted on roads in Karachi in 2019, while some of those were displayed at the Pakistan Autoshow, held in 2019. The sedans were Kia Rio, Kia Stinger, and Kia Cerato, and it is also expected that two SUVs of Kia will also be launched here; two SUVs are Kia Sorento and Kia Niro. Kia states itself with a hashtag that WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE. The customers hope that the newly coming Kia Niro will be a fuel-efficient car. It will be giving good competition to the Toyota Indus Motor Company. Kia Niro combines petrol and electric power that consumes less fuel and is environment-friendly. The SUV-style body makes it the best choice for family use as it has a spacious cabin and makes your journey comfortable. Kia Niro is available in a fully electric version outside Pakistan other than the hybrid version, but it will be available in the hybrid version here yet. Kia Motors has focused on modern features, and people are already very excited about the launch of Kia Niro in Pakistan. Kia Motors Pakistan has switched the trend from the midsize sedan to SUV in Pakistan. We expect the same overwhelming response to the entry of Kia Niro into Pakistani automobile markets as of Kia Sportage.

Powertrain:

Three options for the Kia Niro powertrain are hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric, among which only a hybrid powertrain will be available in Pakistan. It will have a 1.6 liters GDI engine paired with a permanent magnet electric motor. The electric motor gets its power from a lithium-ion 1.56 kWh battery pack. The engine produces 103 Horsepower at 5700 RPM and 147 nm of torque at 4000 RPM, while the electric motor generates maximum power of 42 Horsepower.

Performance & Drive:

The hybrid version of the Kia Niro delivers efficient performance and offers 6-speed automatic transmission. It does a decent job of scooting around the city and works efficiently at high speeds. The acceleration is brisk and smooth within the town, but the enthusiasm becomes dull at high speeds. Talking about its battery charging, this is convenient, and charges during deceleration. The battery is placed below the rear seats. The Kia Niro feels stable when turning around corners, and it’s easy to park the car in tight parking areas because of its quick steering response. The suspension is well-tuned that can soak all the bumps and dips comfortably. Kia Niro offers a front-wheel-drive standard in all the variants. The braking system operates well and applies emergency brakes with longer distances than other hybrid SUVs. The LX hybrid version gives 53 miles per gallon (22 km/L) in the city and 48 miles per gallon (20 km/L) on the highways. The Touring hybrid trims give 46 miles per gallon (19.5 km/L) mileage in the city and 40 miles per gallon (17 km/L) on the highway.

Exterior Design & Features:

Kia Niro is exclusive in its striking design. Its front end has a silver garnish chrome grille with LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights. Fog lights are also given for illumination. The curved body design flanking the outside mirrors helps in minimizing the vortex. The rear end had energy-efficient rear lamps, and the rear camera was mounted with the rear wiper. The scuff plates give Niro a sporty appearance, and the power sunroof opens and closes conveniently with a push of a button. Kia Niro has 18-inches wheels that look stunning and complete the SUV look of the car.

Interior Design & Features:

The Kia Niro is roomy and classy from the inside. The dashboard has a modern appearance but with plastic trims that look little bad. Kia Niro is a five-seater SUV that offers enough headroom and legroom to the passengers. The rear seat is less spacious, but three kids or two adults can sit comfortably in it. The outward visibility is good from the front seats, and the driver’s seat has options for power adjustments. The base trim has cloth upholstery, while the higher-end variants have leather upholstery. The front seats are given heating and ventilation functions. The cargo space of the Kia Niro has 19.4 cubic feet of space, and it can be increased to 54.5 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded. There is a 10.25-inch infotainment screen mounted on the dashboard that comes with Android Auto and Apple Carplay interface. The infotainment system has an uncomplicated menu and quick responses, having physical buttons to operate. You will have 6 speakers so you can listen to your favorite songs. It also offers keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, push-start button, navigation, Bluetooth, and a USB port.

Safety & Features:

The high-strength steel body of Kia Niro makes it rigid, and the hood and tailgate are made of aluminum to decrease the weight by 11 kilograms which enhances the car’s handling and fuel efficiency.

“The Kia Niro received a ‘dual rating’ from Euro NCAP; the standard car achieved a four-star safety rating, while a model featuring the optional ‘advanced driving assistance pack’ was awarded the full five stars thanks to the significant improvements to scores in the pedestrian protection and safety assist categories.”

Some of the safety features of Kia Niro are:

  • Blind Spot Detection
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Parking Assist system
  • 7-airbags for the safety of drivers and passengers
  • Electronic stability control
  • Hill-Start Assist Control
  • Kia Niro is made of 53-percent Advanced High-strength steel, improving the car’s rigidity and dynamic balance
