The subcompact luxury crossover SUV, the Lexus NX, was introduced by Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus in 2014. It became the best-selling luxury SUV in Russia and Europe. It is a front-engine SUV with front-wheel and four-wheel drive options. The 2nd generation Lexus NX was launched in 2021, and it is available in two petrol versions and two hybrid versions. The Lexus NX shares its power trains with Toyota RAV4. The word NX stands for Nimble Crossover, by Lexus Motors. The Lexus NX has become a successful luxury crossover in the United States of America. It managed to sell 58,715 units of Lexus NS in 2019 in the USA. The 2nd generation Lexus NX has multiple power trains, a more luxurious interior, and a standard driver’s assistance program. The latest Lexus NX is completely redesigned, while the mid-range trim also got a new powertrain with a 2.4-liter engine. The Luxury package offers premium equipment like a large-sized 14-inch infotainment screen, leather upholstery, upgraded navigation, 20-inch wheels, and upgraded ambient lights in the cabin that competes with luxury brands such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. The design of Lexus NX is more streamlined with a floating designed windshield, aggressive grille, and unique-looking LED headlamps.

The NX 250 base trim offers an 8-inches touch screen, Amazon Alexa, a USB port, a Wi-Fi hotspot, keyless entry, synthetic leather upholstery, heated mirrors, and 17-inches wheels. The Lexus NX 350 F Sport trim offers 18-inches wheels, a heated steering wheel, a G-force display, a mesh grille, stiffer F Sport suspension, and F sports front seats. The Lexus NX 450 F Sports offers a 10.3-inches infotainment screen, navigation, a moon roof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats.

You can purchase a Premium package that adds heated and ventilated seats in the front row and eighteen-inch wheels. The Navigation package adds navigation and a 10.3-inches infotainment screen.

Engine & Power:

The Lexus NX offers four power trains, and the base model variant Lexus NX 250 is run by 2.5 iters, a 4-cylinder engine that generates a maximum of 203 horsepower with maximum torque of 184 lb-ft @ 5,000 rpm.

The Lexus NX 350 is run by a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that generates a maximum of 275 horsepower with 317 lb-ft @ 1,700–3,600 rpm of torque, and both variants offer an 8-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, the Lexus NX also offers two hybrid power train options available in NX 350h and NX 450h. The 350 Lexus NX has a 2.5-liter engine paired with 2-electric motors and generates a maximum of 239 hp of power. The 450h NX is powered by a 2.5-liter engine paired with electric motors and generates a maximum power of 304 hp. An all-wheel drive is standard in both the hybrid variants.

Performance & Drive:

The gasoline and hybrid versions of Lexus NX deliver equally efficient performance. The drive is smooth in all versions, and it feels stable moving over bumps and dips. The car’s handling is easy, and the car parks conveniently in tight spaces. The braking system is robust and stops the car smoothly while the steering response is quick with light-weighted steering, and the driver can confidently turn the car around corners with minimum body roll. The 8-speed automatic transmission is smooth with relatively rapid shifts, but sometimes the engine can sound gruff in hard acceleration at higher RPMs. The hybrid trims come with electronically controlled continuously varying transmission. The all-wheel-drive is standard in all the variants leaving the base trim that has the front-wheel-drive as standard. The acceleration is quick, ranging from 8.2 to 8.6 seconds for nx250, 6.6 seconds for nx350, 7.2 seconds for hybrid 350, and 6 seconds for 450 hybrid variants with a top speed of 124 miles per hour. The adaptive suspension in F Sport trim makes the ride even more form and smooth. The NX 250 trim gives a combined mileage of 28 miles per gallon, and the NX 350 AWD gives 25 miles per gallon. The NX 350 F Sport trim gives a combined mileage of 25 miles per gallon, and the 350h NX gives a combined mileage of 39 miles per gallon. The Lexus NX 450h gives an estimated mileage of 84.

Exterior Design & Features:

The Lexus NX gives a compact stance with a classic look, there is a dominant grille in the center with a black mesh-work design, and the sweeping exterior lines run all along the body. There are sleek Bi-LED headlights and daytime running lights on the sides of the signature grille. The rear is dynamic, with a power tailgate and diamond-cut LED tail lamps. The 18-inches luxury alloy wheels in higher-end trims come with a 5-spoke dynamic design and boldly aggressive design. The power tailgate comes with a memory function that, allows you to set an automatic stop position.

Interior Design & Features:

The Lexus NX is a two-row luxury SUV that gives a seating capacity of five adults. The front row has generous legroom and ample headroom so taller passengers can travel comfortably in it. The 2nd row is equally comfortable, and the cabin filters out most of the wind and road noise, making the ride comfortable. The higher-end trims have synthetic leather upholstery; a 10-way power adjustment is given in the front seats. The front seats are also given heating and ventilation functions. All high-end materials are used inside the Lexus NX, and you will find soft-touch plastic, padded upholstery, and excellent build quality & materials. There is a 10.3-inches touch screen mounted on the dashboard that is controlled by a touchpad, similar to the laptop. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
