All New 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8
2019 has been a year of surprises and treats bringing happiness across the automotive world, just when the car enthusiasts thoughts they were done with the new Toyota Supra and Ford Bronco, Chevrolet released the all-new mid-engine 2020 Corvette C8. Chevrolet hosted a launch party to unveil the Corvette C8 later this July of 2019 to unveil their upcoming Corvette that is set to lead the automotive market.
Corvettes have always held as a heritage of car industry especially for the American muscle ever since the first one was released in 1964, pretty much after that generations after generations the Corvette has been every car lover’s wish to own and drive one of these. Traditionally the Corvette has been always known as a front-engine sports car however with the launch of C7, Chevrolet announced the next Corvette will be a mid-engine sports car during the 2016 auto show. While a lot of you might not like the idea let’s just agree we all saw it coming. What else has the Corvette modified from its glorious past? Let’s find out.
What’s Corvette has?
The Chevrolet Corvette C8 only comes in automatic gearbox transmission. There is no manual gearbox available not even as an option. While it may enable a lay man to drive a sports car without much hassle, it’s not what the Corvette carries as its heritage. Sure the first gen corvette was an automatic but all the other generations were offered in manual transmission keeping the spirit of car enthusiasm alive.

Engine & Power:
Corvette C8 is powered by an LT2 6.2L V8 engine. The Corvette C8 Stingray base model provided as prototype to the journalists makes about whopping 495HP and 375 lb-ft of torque with its naturally aspirated engine. Therefore it goes from 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds. The massive acceleration has to be credited to the mid-engine which allowed improvement in the acceleration. For years the Corvette engineers have been saying to max out the acceleration of front-engine C7 from the chassis. Therefore the new engine lay out has enabled Chevrolet to produce the most powerful Corvette ever produced in history. Along with the newer engine configuration, the massive acceleration is also subjected to the new automatic transmission.
Little Bit Odd but Matted Well:
The Corvette C8 is powered by dual-clutch automatic transmission with eight-speed unit developed by Tremec. Now obviously the fact that there is only automatic transmission being offered in Corvette C8 is a bit odd to the automotive purists but in practical the automated shifting enables the C8 to gain such massive hyper-car level acceleration. The launch control and limited slip differential further ads up more traction as you floor the gas pedal to ground. However for all the revving enthusiasts that like to make noise whipping across the tunnels, Corvette has a feature where the transmission disengages the clutch if both paddle shifters pressed simultaneously.
While the Chevrolet has not released all the details for C8 as we speak, there are trim levels and features added for buyers that want to pre-order and spec out their Corvette C8. So far as the display car during launching ceremony Corvette C8 has only been shown in red color however we also had the opportunity to witness the car in Rapid Blue in the video recently posted by Jay Leno on his YouTube channel. Anyways according to the official details the C8 will be offered in 12 official colors. White, Black, Blade Silver, Ceramic Matrix Gray, Long Beach Red, Elkhart Lake Blue, Shadow Gray, Sebring Orange and Torch Red were already offered in previous gen C7. However the list of new exterior colors offered in C8 are Zeus Bronze, Accelerate Yellow, and Rapid Blue.
What’s for Initial Deliveries?
Initially for the early deliveries there will be only two wheel design with three options in finish making total 6 different wheel designs. The front wheels on C8 are 19-inches whereas 20-inches in rears. No there won’t be any chrome wheels available in the beginning as loved by Corvette enthusiasts. The brake calipers will have to be chosen from four options of Bright Red, Yellow, a darker edge Red and Black.

Pricing of Chevrolet C8:
Chevrolet Corvette C8 is priced at $60,000 which is a bargain since there isn’t any performance worthy mid-engine sports car available in car market. Therefore the C8 is anticipated to record high number of sales due to the price. As for the delivery process, the cars will start getting delivered in late 2019 and early 2020 for the pre-orders. Corvette C8 is indeed a game changer and eye opener for automotive market creating a tough spot for competitors to launch something this worthy at such a low price.
