The administration of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recently provided 14 pink buses to several girls’ colleges located in Peshawar. These buses were originally received by the provincial government as gifts back in 2018. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ghulam Ali, has taken the initiative to allocate these pink buses to different colleges in Peshawar. The main objective of this effort is to enhance the convenience and safety of young female students during their daily commutes.
The introduction of these pink buses has been warmly welcomed by the female students, who express their gratitude and relief by stating that their lives have been significantly improved. They appreciate the fact that they no longer have to rely on rickshaws for transportation, as the pink buses provide a much safer and more comfortable mode of travel.
According to a media report, these buses were originally acquired by the provincial government as part of a previous project. However, the project never took off and the buses remained unused, sitting idle in a depot. The current caretaker government has now decided to utilize these buses to benefit the female students in Peshawar.
It is currently uncertain whether this facility will be limited to Peshawar or if there are plans to expand it to other regions within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the future. Further details regarding the potential expansion of this initiative have not yet been revealed.
