New Arrival: Proton’s S70 Sedan Hits the Market
You can now order the Proton S70 in Malaysia by paying RM500 (which is about PKR 29,460). You can start ordering from November 1, 2023. The Malaysian car company Proton is now making a new sedan called the S70. This car was seen without any coverings during the filming of a TV commercial last month.
The Proton S70 comes in four different versions: 1.5T Executive, 1.5T Premium, 1.5T Flagship, and 1.5T Flagship X. Even though it shares some of its parts with the Proton X50 (which is based on the Geely Binyue), it’s considered a C-segment car, which is why it has “70” in its name.
In terms of size, the S70 is 4,638 millimeters long, 1,822 millimeters wide, and 1,460 millimeters tall. That makes it longer, wider, and taller than the 12th generation Toyota Corolla. However, its wheelbase is a bit shorter at 2,650 millimeters, while the Corolla has a 2,700-millimeter wheelbase.
Proton hasn’t given all the details about the S70 yet, but they did say it will have a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a dual-clutch transmission. It might use the same 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that’s in the X70, which has 175 horsepower and 255 Newton-meters of torque. It also comes with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
When it comes to how it looks, the S70 is quite similar to the Geely Emgrand it’s based on, with a few small differences like a different front grille and the Proton name on the back. Inside, there’s a big touchscreen on the dashboard, and the steering wheel is different from the one in the Emgrand. But the rest of the inside looks like the Emgrand.
The official launch of the Proton S70 is expected to happen in the next few weeks.
