Chinese automaker Chery has officially launched the Jaecoo 7 SUV in the UK, positioning it as a tech-rich, premium option in the competitive C-segment SUV market. With a starting price under £30,000, it aims to challenge models like the Kia Sportage and Ford Kuga.
Pricing and Models
The entry-level model is priced at £29,435 and features a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 145bhp. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, starting at £35,065, pairs the same engine with an 18.3kWh battery, offering an electric-only range of up to 56 miles. Both variants include a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty.
Design and Features
The Jaecoo 7’s upscale interior includes a 14.8-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof. Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) come standard, and it scored a five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety tests. Seven driving modes, including snow and off-road, enhance versatility.
Competitive Positioning
Designed to compete with more expensive rivals like the VW T-Roc and Toyota C-HR, the Jaecoo 7 offers a blend of affordability and luxury. Deliveries are set to begin in January 2025, with the SUV expected to establish a strong presence in the UK.
