Tesla is soaring in China and Chinese people also like Tesla’s cars so much because of the long driving range, aesthetical design and quality driving experience. For now, Tesla is the highest-selling brand in china but recently a Mini EV produced in Joint venture of SAIC, General Motors has become the most selling car in china.

According to details in the last month, there has been sold 15,000 units of Hong Guang Mini EV followed by Tesla with 11,800 units of Tesla Model 3 sedan.

This new Mini EV vehicle was launched by the joint venture between GM, SAIC and SGMW 2 months ago in July with starting price of 28,800 yuan (4200 $) which is so much less than 291,800 Yuan priced China’s Tesla Model 3 before they get government subsidies.

Hong Guang Mini EV is a two-door, four seated small EV which looks small from outside but big on the inside with storage capacity of up to 741 litres with folded rear seats. Looking more like a small SUV Hong Guang EV is available in three different versions depending upon the driving range. Base Model of Hong Guang EV has a driving range of 120 km using base 9.2 kWh battery which is more in top version up to 170 km with 13.8 kWh battery.

“The model is equipped with the BMS intelligent battery management system, as well as low-temperature preheating technology and battery insulation. It has received an advanced IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating and been put through 16 rigorous safety tests. The battery’s functions can be remotely monitored via a smartphone app.

Adding to the safety, more than 57% of the Hong Guang MINI EV’s body consists of high-strength steel. It also comes with the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and reversing radar. The back seats are equipped with two ISOFIX child safety seat restraint interfaces to cater to young families. “
