MG Motors introduced its first SUV, MG Hector, in India in 2019 after a manufacturing plant was built in Gujarat in 2017. The word Hector is inspired by Hawker Hectora (a biplane in the British Royal Army) and Prince Hector of Troy. It is a midsize SUV that shares the same platform as Baojun 530. It is taller than Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tuscan, with an increased wheelbase and overall length. MG Motors announced an updated Hector for Indian markets for 2023, and the facelift Hector was revealed on 8th January 2023. The restyled MG Hector has a diamond-studded chrome grille on the front inspired by the Scotland Argyle design. The front and rear bumpers are restyled, along with the LED headlamps, taillights, and boot lit. The wheel design is also changed, which gives Hector a new look. Some changes introduced in the cabin include a 14-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, voice-controlled lights, electronic parking brakes, and a newly designed gear lever. It will offer dual-tone and mono-tone exterior color options. The dual-tone colors include candy white and starry black, while the mono-tone options include white, grey, glaze red, aurora silver, black, and dune brown. It is available in two powertrain options a petrol engine and a diesel engine. The MG Hector is available in five, six, and seven-seat configurations. The newly launched MG Hector leaves other SUVs far behind with all-new exciting technologies, driving comfort, and the latest features. It offers an I-Smart technology that gives the easiest, smoothest, and smartest drives by combining hardware, software, and connectivity services. It helps to utilize a hundred plus voice commands, Wi-Fi connectivity, I-call service, emergency assistance, knowing critical tire pressure, and the I-Smart app for Android and Apple smartwatch users. You can also purchase the I-smart premium package that adds valuable features and services. The bookings of MG Hector have been started all over India.

To all your questions that how does the new MG Hector drive? We have concluded various verdicts, and the drive of both powertrains will be explained here. Firstly the 1.5-litre petrol engine, available in both manual and continuously varying automatic transmissions, proves to be an easy-to-drive SUV despite its considerable size. The steering wheel is responsive and light, which makes it easy to move through traffic, and the throttle response is good with only a perceptible reluctance which is improved when Sports mode is engaged. It drives with ease from 1500 RPM to 2000 ROM. The petrol engine offers manual transmission only and gives supple ride quality at low and high speeds equally. It accelerates to 80 kilometres per hour within no time, and the steering doesn’t feel heavy.

The adaptive cruise control maintains a proper distance from vehicles in the front with the help of sensors. Bend Cruise Assistance decelerates the car automatically when moving into curve-based roads. Driving is made more accessible with Traffic Jam Assist, which helps you move through heavy traffic securely and comfortably with minimum effort. The Lane Departure Warning warns the driver when you deviate from the lane. The automatic emergency brakes apply brakes automatically when pedestrians approach in front of the vehicle, and the intelligent headlamp control makes night driving convenient by activating and deactivating the high beam headlamps according to the light conditions. The MG Hector is built tough with hot stamped B pillar, thick door panels, high strength steel, and tubular steel door beams that make it a strong car and deliver excellent performance with the minimum body roll. It offers front and rear disc brakes and makes the braking system efficient to provide a smooth ride. The suspension system has Macpherson strut suspension at the front and a beam assembled at the rear, and together they deliver a smooth performance. The fuel consumption of MG Hector is average, and it gives 6 kilometres per litre in the city and 8 kilometres per litre on the highways.

The MG Hector comes with a bolder design statement with a sleek rear cluster, adding evocative character on the road. The diamond mesh chrome grille is inspired by Argyle inspired design, making it look more attractive. The LED-connected blade in the tail lamps gives it a commanding presence in traffic. The chrome insert skid plates at the front and the rear, along with floating light turn indicators, LED front and rear fog lamps, and LED daytime running lights, make it look sportier. The eighteen-inch dual-tone alloy wheels give it an aggressive statement. It is available in seven exquisite exterior colors that complement your personality.
