Lahore General Hospital (LGH), renowned for its healthcare services, faces significant traffic congestion throughout the day, making it one of the busiest areas in the city. Due to the high number of visitors and staff, the parking area at LGH quickly fills up during peak hours, leading to vehicles parking on the roads and causing traffic congestion.

During a media interaction, Prof. Dr. Javed Akram, the caretaker provincial health minister, shared details about the future plans for Lahore General Hospital (LGH). He announced the upcoming construction of a dedicated parking plaza to alleviate the traffic congestion in the vicinity and ensure an adequate number of parking spaces for the hospital staff.

The health minister also disclosed that a specialized pediatric urology ward will be established within the hospital to cater to the healthcare needs of patients in that field. He emphasized the caretaker government’s commitment to providing comprehensive support to the public by implementing various initiatives.

Efforts are being made to address the issue of illegal parking through stringent measures. Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa recently issued a directive to crack down on unauthorized parking in commercial buildings across Lahore. The order highlights the collaboration between the police and local administration to effectively enforce these measures.

The initiative involves sealing non-compliant plazas and buildings, along with imposing fines on areas with illegal parking. The joint operation will be conducted by the metropolitan wings of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), as well as Assistant Commissioners (ACs), as stated by Randhawa.

Furthermore, endeavors are underway to provide adequate and convenient parking facilities in areas with high demand. This includes the construction of parking plazas, expansion of existing parking spaces, and exploring innovative solutions such as smart parking systems.

Through the implementation of these measures, the authorities aim to instill discipline in parking practices, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure smooth traffic flow for the benefit of all road users
