Chinese Automaker Dayun Group Unveils Its Premium Electric Car Yuanhang Y6

Dayun Passenger Car already makes two affordable electric cars in China. But Yuanhang Auto, which is part of the same group, is targeting the high-end electric car market in China. They revealed four new cars at the 2022 Chengdu Motor Show, and the first one is called the Yuanhang Y6.

The Y6 is a fancy executive sedan and uses a special electric platform called “Beyond the Horizon of Drive,” which they made together with Bosch and Huawei. It’s quite big, measuring 5,270/2,000/1,500 mm with a 3,130 mm space between the wheels. To compare, it’s even larger than the Hyundai Sonata, which measures 4,910/1,860/1,445 mm with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. So, the Y6 is a proper D-segment sedan.

Inside, the Y6 has a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a 12.3-inch screen for the instruments, and a 17.38-inch touchscreen in the center, which uses Alibaba’s smart operating system. It also has a 27-speaker sound system. There’s even a small screen in the back for the passengers and some cup holders.

The Y6 has a smart system that can help with things like traffic jams, adaptive lights, staying in your lane, and keeping a safe distance from the car in front of you.

It comes in two different versions: one with a rear-wheel drive and one with four-wheel drive. There are five different options with varying battery sizes. The rear-wheel drive versions have an electric motor with 250 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque. They come with two battery sizes, 88.42 kWh and 100 kWh, which can take you 720 km and 810 km, respectively, on a single charge. They can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

The four-wheel drive version has two electric motors, one on the front and one on the back, with either 500 kW/745 Nm or 520 kW/850 Nm of power and torque. They offer three battery sizes, 88.42 kWh, 100 kWh, and 150 kWh, giving you a range of 620 km, 720 km, or 1,020 km. These cars can go up to 205 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

The company says that their 800V fast charging can give you an extra 300 km of range in just 10 minutes. The Y6 will cost between 329,800 and 529,800 yuan ($45,100 – $73,000). Mass production starts on November 8th, and they plan to launch it by the end of the year.

Another day, another Chinese car company is getting ready to launch an electric car. Yuanhang Auto is a new brand under the Dayun Group, which also has other companies like Dayun Truck, Dayun Motorcycle, Dayun Pickup Truck, Dayun New Energy, and Dayun Passenger Car.
