The 11th generation Honda Civic was launched in 2021 worldwide, and the coupe body was discontinued in the United States. From 2023 Honda Civic has discontinued the LX base trim in the United States, and the Sport trim is made the new entry-level trim. Trims & Variants:

The Honda Civic sedan is available in four trim levels that are:

Sport: it offers eighteen-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, an automatic climate control system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, eight speakers, a seven-inch touch screen, LED headlights, and advanced driver’s assistance programs that include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and traffic sign reader.

EX/EXL (EXL is offered in hatchback style): it offers seventeen-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, heated mirrors, leather upholstery in EXL, 2 USB ports, a blind spot monitoring system, and a rear seat armrest.

Touring: it offers eighteen-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, leather upholstery, a nine-inch touch screen, 12 speakers, two rear USB ports, Android Auto and Apple Car Play, a navigation system, a wireless charging device, and front and rear parking sensors.

Si: it offers sport suspension, a manually adjusted sport front seat, bolstered front seats, a limited-slip front differential, high-performance tires, and bigger brakes.

The Honda Civic hatchback is available in similar trim levels except for Si, which is not available in a hatchback style. A new Type R trim level is offered in the 2023 hatchback.

Type R: it offers upgraded Brembo sports brakes, faux suede upholstery, adaptive suspension, exclusive sports seats, adaptive sport exhaust, performance data logging system, and six-speed manual transmission. 

Engine, Power & Transmission:

The Sport trim gets its power from a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine that generates 158 hp power and 138 pounds-feet of torque. It offers a continuously varying automatic transmission, and the hatchback model offers a six-speed manual transmission.

The EX and EXL trims get their power from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that generates 180 hp power and 177 pounds-feet of torque. They offer continuously varying automatic transmissions.

The Si trim has a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that generates 200 hp power and 192 pounds-feet of torque. It offers a six-speed manual transmission. 

The Type R is the performance model that gets its power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that generates 315 hp power and 310 pounds-feet torque. It offers a six-speed manual transmission.

Performance & Drive:

The Honda Civic is an exciting car to drive. All its trims deliver efficient performance, and the high-performance Type R is designed specifically for delivering more power and sporty drive. The base model generates 158 hp power and cruise around the town smoothly and takes 9.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. However, it produces high RPM when pushed hard. The 1.5-liter engine is turbocharged and does not produce high RPM upon moving and pushing hard. It takes 7 to 8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. The manual transmission feels precise, but the continuously varying automatic transmission is the most responsive of all. The suspension is aligned perfectly, and the car feels agile when turning and making curves. The braking system is also efficient enough to apply smooth brakes and stops the car confidently. The steering wheel is light-weighted and gives the driver confidence in handling the car. The ride quality is composed and comfortable. The fuel economy of the Honda Civic is great, and the 1.5-liter engine gives 27 miles per gallon to 33 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon to 42 miles per gallon on the highways. The base engine 2.0-liter gives 30 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highways. The Honda Civic offers a Collision Mitigation Braking System that prevents the risk of collision with an alarm when a pedestrian is in front of the car, and it applies brakes automatically with pressure for the sake of the passenger’s safety. Cruising is more fun with adaptive cruise control that adjusts the car’s speed when a vehicle approaches you, slows the car when required, and even stops the car.

Exterior Design & Features:

The Honda Civic has a sleek style with a wide frame and powerful looks. The LED headlights have a modern-dual beam design, and high-end trims have automatic high beams. The front seat does not have lumbar support, so long journeys can make the passengers feel uncomfortable and tired. Road noise can be uncomfortable sometimes when traveling at high speeds. There is no manual transmission option in sedan models, and the infotainment screen is small in base variants.
